November, 2018


The meeting was called to order by our president, Al Schmidt, promptly at, 1:30 PM. There were 16 members present.
The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of God Bless America followed by an invocation by our Chaplin, David Tarditi.
The secretary read the minutes from the last Business Meeting held on September 13, 2018 since there was no business meeting in October due to the Fall Luncheon. The minutes were approved as read. He also read the minutes from the board of director’s meeting held on November 1.
David Tarditi gave the treasurer’s report and posted it on the bulletin board. He reminded members that dues are now due for 2018.
New member Brian Meyers introduced himself to the club and was given a warm welcome.
Al reported that the nominating committee has been soliciting members to serve on the board of directors as well as a 2nd VP for 2019. Anyone interested should contact Al. A slate of officers will be presented at a December meeting at which time nominations from the floor will also be considered. Voting will occur at the January business meeting after which the new directors and officers will be sworn in.
Al also noted that Brandywine is hosting an Alzheimer’s walk on Nov 17th at 11am and that the Kiwanis club is selling fruit from October 22md to November 18th. Al reminded members that 100 years ago on Nov 8th the Germans were making preparations for Armistice negotiations.
Bill Brown reported that the wine & cheese party is this Saturday, Nov 10th at Grace Episcopal Church hall at 6pm. There will be two forms of entertainment this year, Jack Poupard’s band and a young singer.
The Children’s Diabetes Run will take place on Saturday November 24th. Club members participating as marshals should b=meet at the club at 8am where there will be coffee and pastries.
Bill Brown reported that the December trip to the Tropicana on Dec 4th is now open for reservations and members can sign up at the club or contact Bill. The cost of the trip is $45 which i9ncludes the bus, $15 in slot play, lunch at Carmines after 12:30pm and the Christmas show at 3:30pm.
Al Schmidt reminded members that the annual Christmas party will be held on December 13th in lieu of a regular business meeting.
The meeting adjourned to refreshments at 1:55pm.
