September, 2020

The regular business meeting was held on Thursday September 10, 2020. The 65 Club clubhouse was closed due to the Corona virus shutdown. The meeting was conducted at Haddonfield Borough Hall and remotely using the Zoom program. President Bill Brown called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM.  There were nine (9) members present at Borough Hall and an unknown number on Zoom.

Dave Tarditi led The Pledge of Allegiance and then the invocation.

Minutes – Fred Willis

·         The minutes of the last Business Meeting, held on August 13, 2020, were read.  They were accepted without changes.

·         The minutes of the last Board of Directors Meeting, held on September 3, 2020 and conducted on Zoom, were read.  They were accepted without changes.

President’s Report – Bill Brown

·         President Bill Brown asked Bob Parsons to report on the stag luncheon. Bob informed us the luncheon will be held indoors upstairs, at Tavistock, with 60 members permitted. The date is October 8 with a cash bar starting at 12:00.  The menu will be the same as last year and the cost will remain the same at $30. The secretary will send invitations to the borough commissioners and administrator.

·         Bill contacted Christ the King Church about having the November Wine and Cheese party there.  The church informed him the room normally used for organizations would no longer be rented out.  Bill will search now for another venue.

·         The Day after Thanksgiving Turkey Trot fundraising run has been cancelled.  The 65 Club will not provide support for the race.

·         The status of Salvation Army Red Kettle fundraising at the Haddonfield Acme is unknown.

·         Saul has written a second history of new members but the name has not been announced.  This history will be printed in the next newsletter.

Treasurer’s Report

·         Treasurer Dave Tarditi reported the club’s financial balance had decreased by only $400 since the beginning of the year.  This was due to several substantial donations by the club to various organizations.

·         Dave informed us that non guest members make donations in lei of dues payments.  The average of these donation is higher than the dues.

Reports

Welfare –Henry Leimkuhler.  Walt Baker reported for Henry.

·         Charles Legge had another operation on his broken hip.

·         Don Beck and his wife are still in quarantine which has been four months.

·         Richard Gimigliano is undergoing dialysis.

 

Membership - Roger Jacobs – 2nd VP–

·         Roger gave a brief description of his trip to Canada.

·         Roger has stopped requesting dues from the four unpaid members and is unable to contact two of them.

·         Roger has contacted twelve churches to date about the club. Three churches have not yet responded to his request to distribute literature about the club.

Speakers – Frank Lodge – 1st VP

·         Frank reported 65 Club member Rich Cunliffe will speak next week on Artificial Intelligence.

Activities 

Bowling – starting time has changed to 11:00 AM

Golf – 20 to 24 people consistently come out for golfing.  Last week the 65 Club Master tournament was held.

Joke Master

·         Everyone hid.  No joke.

President Bill Brown adjourned the meeting at 2:03 PM.
