April, 2020

The regular business meeting was held on April 9, 2020. The 65 Club clubhouse was closed due to the Corona virus shutdown. The meeting was conducted remotely using the Zoom program. President Bill Brown called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM.  There were about 20 members on Zoom

The Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of God Bless America were waived for this meeting.  Our Chaplin, David Tarditi, was unable to attend and Al Schmidt gave the invocation.

The secretary gave a synopsis of the minutes from the April 2, 2020 Board of Director’s meeting. The minutes of the last Business Meeting held on March 12, 2020 were not read.  The secretary informed the attendees the minutes were available from him via e-mail or they could be read on the club website.

Treasurer- In Dave Tarditi’s absence someone gave the financial report.  The club is still in good financial shape although twelve members have not renewed membership thus reducing the income by $240.

Reports

Membership - Roger Jacobs – 2nd VP – Roger reported there were no new applicants at this time.  Roger also reported Member Joe Haro is gravely ill due to a heart problem.

Speakers – Frank Lodge – 1st VP – Frank reported the speaker list is currently filled for another month.

Welfare – Henry Leimkuhler – Henry reported on several members including Joe Haro. Saul Resnick became a grandfather. On April 19 one member will reach 100 years.

Activities – There were no reports on activities.  There are no activities to report on.

Spring Luncheon - Bill Brown reported he had a discussion with Tavistock.  Its management does not know whether they will be open in May. A decision on holding the luncheon will be made later.

Trips - Bill Brown informed the club the three remaining scheduled trips will be held if possible. They have not been cancelled at this time. Whether the trips are held will depend upon the virus course.

Old Business – Howard Rementer announced he was unable to serve the members ice-cream today.

New Business - Bill suggested having a green donation jar at home. Contributions made at home will be delivered to the club when the meetings return to the club house.

Al Schmidt suggested having a grand re-opening when the virus is over.  This met approval

Bill reported there has been no recent mail delivery to the club house and the post office is not holding mail. Bill and Bernie will stop by the clubhouse frequently to determine why the absence.

Bill is working with Jack Poupard to have Tai Chi class video’s available during the virus shutdown.

President Bill Brown adjourned the meeting at 1:50 PM.
