November, 2020

 The regular business meeting was held on Thursday November 12, 2020. The 65 Club clubhouse was closed due to the Corona virus shutdown. The meeting was conducted at Haddonfield Borough Hall and remotely using the Zoom program. President Bill Brown called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM.  There were ten (10) members present at Borough Hall and an unknown number on Zoom.

Dave Tarditi led The Pledge of Allegiance and then the invocation.

Minutes – Fred Willis

·        The minutes of the last Business Meeting, held on September 10, 2020, were read.  They were accepted without changes.

·        The minutes of the last Board of Directors Meeting, held on November 5, 2020 and conducted on Zoom, were read. 

President’s Report – Bill Brown

·        President Bill Brown informed us the annual December Christmas party, to be held at the Methodist Church, had been cancelled. Gifts for residents at Elmwood Hill Home would still be accepted at the 65 Club clubhouse.  Arrangements for gift drop off will be announced later.

·        Joe Murphy printed 250 Trifold color flyers for the club. These were made on glossy paper and the only cost to the club was the paper.

·        The Salvation Army accepted the Club’s proposed date of December 11 to support the Red Kettle fundraising at Starbucks. Club members who want to man the Red Kettle should contact Al Schmidt for available times.

·        The Wine and Cheese party has been resurrected from cancellation.  It will be held on Zoom with Jack Poppard supplying the music. Socialization will be by zoom, as will be descriptions of the wine and cheese each attendee is trying. The party will be held Saturday November 14.

·        The Salvation Army is requesting volunteers to assist in its Rescue Christmas event.  Volunteers are necessary to fill bags with toys for distribution.  Volunteers should contact the Salvation Army directly.

·        The Nominating Committee will be contacting prospective officers and board members shortly.

Treasurer’s Report

·        Treasurer Dave Tarditi reported the club’s financial balance is good.  The club has about $19,000 in funds.

·        The club has about 150 members and at present 56 have paid the 2021 dues.

Reports

Welfare –Henry Leimkuhler.  via Zoom.

·        Don Beck has been quarantined without his wife.

·        Jeff, last name not heard by secretary, had a heart attack.

·        Dan Columbi is unable to speak at present but enjoys receiving notes from club members.

·        Henry will make a list of members who will receive Christmas cookies from the club.

 

Membership - Roger Jacobs – 2nd VP

·        Roger complemented everyone who was involved with producing the trifolds. Roger will fill the Trifold holders scattered through the borough.

·        Roger is contacting local publications, including the Haddonfield Sun and Haddonfield Living, for ad prices.  Roger is developing an Ad to attract new members based on the Perfect Gift idea for the man who has everything developed by Bill Brown.

·        John Cokos will be contacting local business for obtaining discounts for members. Coffee shops are the first business of interest.

Speakers – Frank Lodge – 1st VP

Phil Kinsey reported for Frank

·        Next week’s speaker will be Lois Edmonds describing Homewatch. This is service to inspect homes and ensure their safety while the owners are away for extended times.

Activities 

·        Golf – Dennis reported golf has ended for the year and will resume in April.  There will be recognition of the people who have set up and run the golf because there is considerable work in organizing and running the golf.

Members Report

·        Bernie Schaming informed the club he had obtained pricing from a previously used electrician to convert the club house florescent lighting to LED.  The cost is approximately $800.  He has notified the borough of the changes and received approval to make the lighting changes.  Bernie requested the board approve the change via email.  Bernie will send out an email to request and tabulate a vote.

Joke Master

·        Everyone hid. No joke was made. Dan Columbi and Bob Parsons have set a difficult standard to meet.

President Bill Brown adjourned the meeting at 2:03 PM.
