October, 2016

The board of directors meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held on Thursday October 6, 2016. President Wise called the meeting to order at 10 AM. Roll was called and 13 members were present.
The secretary read the board meeting minutes from September 1, 2016. The minutes were approved as read.
Walt Baker gave the treasurers report and it was approved for audit.  

New Members

Robert Naticchia was accepted by the board for membership in the clb and Robert Cocker was accepted as a guest member.

Trips

· Bill Brown reported that the trip to the Sculpture Gardens in Trenton was great. The next trip is to the KROC center in Camden on October 25th. Bill also has booked a trip to the Chapel of the Four Chaplains in Philadelphia on November 15th with lunch at Mercers. The cost of the trip is $15. The next planned trip is to Doolans in Spring Lake on December 6th.  The date for the Caesar’s casino trip featuring Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers in 2017 has been set for Monday, November 20th, 2017.

Old Business

· Walt again requested help for manning our table at the fall festival on October 15th.

New Business

· Al Schmidt reported that he has reserved the Episcopal church hall for November 12th for the wine & cheese party. The party will be from 6:30 to 10:00pm. The cost will be $5 per person for members, spouses and guests. Potential new members brought as guests will be free. Bill Brown agreed to obtain the wine & cheese and to contact Jack Poupard for the music. Members will again be asked to bring an appetizer or dessert.  
· Ron Howley suggested that it’s time for a cleanup day at the club. This time we will focus on the outside which needs work. The day for the cleanup will be October 20th after our regular meeting. Bernie Schaming agreed to send an email to the local people asking for help.

September,2016

The regular business meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held September 18, 2016. President Wise called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM. There were 17 members present.
The meeting began with the Pledge to the flag, followed by the singing of God Bless America. Chaplain Lou Dunkle provided the invocation.  
The secretary read the minutes from the last Business Meeting held on August 11, The minutes were approved as read. He also read the minutes from the Board of Directors meetings held on September 1, 2016.
Walt Baker gave the treasurer’s report and posted it on the bulletin board.
Dan Colombi announced that on Sunday, September 11, the Presbyterian Church would hold its annual tolling of the bells for the victims of 9/11. All members were invited to attend between 8 am and 10:30am and to participate in the event. As each name is read, the bell is tolled for all the victims of 9/11. He cautioned that there are three flights of stairs to reach the bell tower.
Saul Resnick proposed an idea for attracting new members and requested comments from those in attendance. Since he has written three articles on club members, he will approach the local papers to see if they are interested in publishing them. The idea is to show the diverse backgrounds of members and encourage others to join the club. Those present thought it was a good idea, so he will proceed.
Walt announce that the Sculpture Garden trip on September 27th is in jeopardy due to low signup, but there is still time to meet our break even goal. 
Members reported that pinochle, bridge and golf are still going strong. It was announced that bridge and pinochle and bowling trophy scoring will begin on September 12th, 14th and 16th respectively.

June, 2016

The regular business meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held June 9, 2016. President Wise called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM. There were 17 members present.
The meeting began with the Pledge to the flag, followed by the singing of God Bless America. Chaplain Lou Dunkle provided the invocation.
The secretary read the minutes from the last Business Meeting held on April 14, 2016 since there was no business meeting in May. The minutes were approved as read. He also read the minutes from the Board of Directors meetings held on June 2, 2016.
Walt Baker gave the treasurer’s report and posted it on the bulletin board.
Mike Underwood reported that 34 golfers were out on June 8th. The first group at 7:30 tee time finished 18 holes, the next group got 13 holes in and the last group got 9 holes in before the deluge.
Bill Brown requested members to get their money in for the June 28th trip to the Linc, lunch at Chickie & Pete’s, and a tour of the Simeone car museum. We will leave via school bus from the high school at 10am.
Mike Underwood asked members to again consider marching in the 4th of July parade. This year’s theme is very simple – VOTE. The signs are being made and final assembly of material will take place after the regular meeting on June 23rd.

April, 2016

The regular business meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held April 14, 2016. President Wise called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM. There were 26 members present.
The meeting began with the Pledge to the flag, followed by the singing of God Bless America. Chaplain Lou Dunkle provided the invocation.
The secretary read the minutes from the last Business Meeting held on March 10, 2016. The minutes were approved as read. He also read the minutes from the Board of Directors meetings held on April 7, 2016.
Walt Baker gave the treasurer’s report and posted it on the bulletin board. Walt read the names of those who are no longer members along with the reason for their departure.
President Wise read a letter from Mrs. Griffith in which she recalled the ordeal of Bill getting lost after one of the club meetings. Many members present remembered that day well.
Bill Brown reported that the next trip will be June 28. It will include a tour of the Linc, lunch at Chickie & Pete’s, and a tour of the Simeone car museum. We will leave via school bus from the high school at 10am and the cost will be approximately $33. He is also looking into a trip to Hunterdon Hills Playhouse as well as possibly Spring Lake.
Bill also announced that the Japan Exchange is taking a bus to a performance by a group from Japan on Sunday, April 17. Members who are interested are welcome to go on the bus.  In addition, he reported that 15% of you bill on Thursday April 21 at PJ Whelihans will be donated to the Japan Exchange.
Al Schmidt thanked the people who participated in the Feed My Starving Children event which was a big success.
Mike Underwood reported that we had 19 and 22 golfers the first two weeks of the season even though it was chilly.
Bernie Schaming presented the prize for the baseball contest to Lou Dunkle who only had one wrong in the starting lineup for the Phillies on opening day. Bernie also announced that the new directories had been printed and asked for help assembling them after the meeting.

February, 2016

The regular business meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held February 11, 2016. President Wise called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM. There were 19 members present.
The meeting started off with the Pledge to the flag, followed by the singing of God Bless America. Chaplain Dunkle gave the invocation.
Colin Mac-Allen was introduced as the speaker and he gave a very interesting history of Tavistock Country Club including its transition from the Haddon Country Club, the land purchase, the multiple fires and some of the great golfers who were members.
Following the speaker the secretary read the minutes from the last Business Meeting held on January 14, 2016. The minutes were approved as read. He also read the minutes from the Board of Directors meetings held on February 4, 2016.
President Wise reported that Clark Perks and Carlton Chin both enjoyed speaking to the club and both were willing to come back. He also introduced Al Schmidt as the new membership chairman for 2016.
Walt Baker gave the treasurer’s report and posted it on the bulletin board. Walt reported that we still have approximately 20 members who have not paid their 2016 dues.
Henry Leimkuhler requested suggestions for a speaker or entertainment for the Ladies Spring Luncheon.
Bill Brown reported that after cancelling the casino trip and wine tasting at Tomasello winery he had multiple requests for tickets. Of special interest was a request from the Haddon Heights Italian American club for a block of tickets. This could be a source of trip-takers for the future. He also announced that they have monthly dinners for a nominal charge.
Bill also reported that he has arranged another casino trip for Wednesday, April 6. The trip will include $10 in slot play, $20 food voucher, a show titled the Legends of Song. Details will be in an upcoming email and the March newsletter.
Ron Howley reported that Champ Goldie participated in four events at a recent competition including the 55 meter run, shot-put and two other events. Champ won all four events.
