April, 2021

 The regular business meeting was held on Thursday April 8, 2021. The 65 Club clubhouse was closed due to the COVID 19 shutdown therefore the meeting was conducted remotely using the Zoom program. President Frank Lodge called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM.  There were eighteen (18) members on laptops or phones attending.

Dave Tarditi led The Pledge of Allegiance and then the invocation.

Minutes – Fred Willis

·       The minutes of the last Business Meeting, held on March 11, 2021, were read.  They were accepted without changes.

·       The minutes of the last Board of Directors Meeting, held on April 1, 2021 and conducted on Zoom, were read. 

President’s Report – Frank Lodge

·       Frank announced 2nd vice president Rich Bonnette had resigned.

o   A committee of Bill Brown, Al Schmidt and Roger Jacobs was formed to find a replacement. The committee will meet tomorrow to discuss candidates.

·       There are two zoom meetings for Haddonfield Commissioner Candidates Question and Answer sessions. On April 12 the Haddonfield Civic Association will hold one. On April 22 the Haddonfield Republican club will hold one.  Registration for the HRC is required and can be obtained at haddonfieldgop@gmail.com.

Treasurer’s Report – Dave Tarditi

·       Dave said the Green Contribution jar was empty and lonely and it would be nice if members contributed to it again.

Reports

Welfare –Henry Leimkuhler.  Walt Baker reported for Henry

·       All the club members at Collingswood Manor were still in lockdown.

·       Dan Columbi is holding his own with chemo.

Speakers – Roger Jacobs – 1st VP

·       The following presentations are scheduled.

o   April 15 – Mark Brill – the 1800 Presidential Election

o   April 22 – Dr Yanhong Zhang - Pulmonologist

o   April 29   Carlton Chan – Investments, Sports Analytics and All of the Above

o   May 6 – Julian Brodsky – The history of the cable industry

o   May 20 – Erica Peel – Piccolo player with the Philadelphia Orchestra

o   May 27 – Dr Terry Marlin – South Africa Safari and Train Adventure

o   June 1 – Boxing

 

Membership –

·       No new members

Activities - Bill Brown

·       Bill obtained a list of Haddonfield veterans and will send letters to them who are eligible to be 65 Club members

·        The spring luncheon is the next planned event. 

o   Seventy-four (74) attendees have registered for the luncheon and sixty-three (63) have paid.

·       Golf resumed last week with a large (36) turnout.

o   Golfing awards will be presented at the Spring Luncheon

·       Bowling continues on Friday and will continue through the summer.  Attendance is usually five members.

o   Bowling awards will be presented at the Spring Luncheon

·       Bridge continues on line on Monday and Thursday nights.

·       Chess will start later.

·       Bill has again contacted the Borough commissioners about re-opening the clubhouse for Thai Chi and Chess.  So far, he has been told they would review the request.

·       There was a discussion about arranging a trip by train to an Atlantic City casino.  This is feasible if the jitneys are operating.

·       An invitation to visit the organ at the Atlantic City Convention hall in late spring has been received.  The organ is being restored and was the subject of a presentation last year. If this occurs it will probably be a train trip.

·       Al Schmidt informed us there were approximately 1000 vaccine openings at Rowan.

Joke Master

·       Dennis Kille bravely stepped forward to tell a joke claiming he was scraping the bottom of the barrel. The bottom was too high of an evaluation of the joke.

President Frank Lodge adjourned the meeting at 2:00 PM.
