February, 2021

 The regular business meeting was held on Thursday February 11, 2020. The 65 Club clubhouse was closed due to the COVID 19 shutdown therefore the meeting was conducted remotely using the Zoom program. President Frank Lodge called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM.  There were between nineteen (19) and twenty-one (21) members on Zoom.

Dave Tarditi led The Pledge of Allegiance and then the invocation.

Minutes – Fred Willis

·        The minutes of the last Business Meeting, held on January 14, 2021, were read.  They were accepted without changes.

·        The minutes of the last Board of Directors Meeting, held on February 4, 2021 and conducted on Zoom, were read. 

President’s Report – Frank Lodge

·        Frank informed the members of the following upcoming activities.

o   February 14 – HOST Renewable Wedding Vows will be held at Kings Court.

o   The movie `Death Saved My Life’ was recently filmed in Haddonfield and will be shown on Lifetime Channel.

o   A 1938 65 Club Christmas party phot was shown.  Only men were attendees.

Treasurer’s Report – Dave Tarditi

·        The clubs bank account decreased from about $20,000 to $18,000 during January. The major expenses were $1,250 to replace storm doors, $960 to replace clubhouse light fixtures and a $500 deposit for the spring luncheon.

Reports

Welfare –Henry Leimkuhler

·        Get well cards were sent to several members.

·        Dan Columbi was seen smiling at Tish’s birthday party.

·        A $50 memorial donation was sent in Earl Slimm’s name to the Parkinson Foundation.

·        There was an extensive discussion on the experience’s members are having in getting the Covid vaccine. In general, receiving the vaccine is very random and chaotic.

Speakers – Roger Jacobs – 1st VP

·        Rich Cunliffe will speak on his experiences in Australia and the outback on February 18.

·        Richard Carney will speak February 25 on boating at the Jersey shore and in Prince William Sound in Alaska

·        Roger sent thank you notes to the club’s last two speakers.  Both speakers mentioned the tremendous support Al Schmidt supplied for their zoom presentations.

·        The following presentations are scheduled.

o    March 4 – Downtown Cookies

o   March 18 – Sunset Valley Flowers

o   March 25 – Video on making the Museum of the American Revolution.

Membership – Rich Bonnette

·        Rich has written a report for the Directors for a membership campaign.  This will be presented at the next Board of Directors meeting.  

Activities - Bill Brown

·        No trips are scheduled

·        The spring luncheon is the next planned event.  People who sign up but do not attend will be charged for the luncheon.

·        Golf will resume in early April. The schedule has been established according to Mike Underwood.

·        Bowling continues on Friday.  Attendance is usually five members.

·        Bridge continues on line on Monday and Thursday nights.

·        Chess will start later.

Members Report

·        Roger remined members to find locations to display Club Tri-fold brochures.

New Business

·        Phil Kinsey and Al Schmidt complied an etiquette list to improve using Zoom.  The most important issues are lighting and using mute.  The etiquette list was sent to the membership.

·        Rich Carney informed the club of 126 Youtube video’s on Tony Fleming sailing adventures.  These are small travelogues on locations around the world

Joke Master

·        Bill Brown stepped in to replace Neil Wise and did a credible job. He is now on the hook for when Neil is unavailable.

President Frank Lodge adjourned the meeting at 2:20 PM.
