The board of directors meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held on Thursday April 5, 2018. President Al Schmidt called the meeting to order at 10 AM. Roll was called and 13 members were present.

The secretary read the board meeting minutes from March 1, 2018. The minutes were approved as read.

Dave Tarditi gave the treasurers report and it was approved for audit.

Membership

No new members were approved this month..  Saul reported that he has three candidates that he is currently pursuing.

Speakers

Jay reported that he has speakers lined up through the middle of June.

Trips

· Bill Brown reported that we had 50 people for the trip the 911 Museum and that we had a profit of $89.  It was noted that we need to obtain telephone numbers when people sign up for trips since we need a way to contact them if they don’t show up on time. Bill has planned the next trip for May 15^th to the Hindi Mandir, in Robbinsville NJ. The schoolbus will leave at 9AM from the Pub. Upon arrival we must remove shoes. The tour will begin with a brief welcome and a short film. We will thn break into smaller groups for the tour. No photos are permitted inside the temple. We will return to the Pub by 1PM where we will ave lunch. The cost for this trip will be $25.

· Bill is also looking into a trip at the end of June to Middletown PA where there willb e a train ride and steamboat trip with dinner at a Victorian restaurant.

Spring Luncheon

· Bob Parsons reported that he will start making calls in the next coup0le weeks for the Ladies Spring Luncheon. Compensation was discussed for the entertainment and it was concluded that we would give a donation of $150 to the entertainer and $50 to he accompaniest.

Old Business

· Al Schmidt reiterated that spring cleanup would be next week. Henry will talk to our neighbor to see if she needs any cleanup help.   

· No definite plans have been made for a restaurant outing and fundraiser.

· Changes to this years activity chairmen wre reviewed and approved.

· Jim Dunn reported that he is collecting photos to update the club brochure. He again asked for help obtaining new photos for the update.

March, 2018

The regular business meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held March 8, 2018. President Schmidt called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM. There were 21 members present.

The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of God Bless America.

The secretary read the minutes from the last Business Meeting held on February 8, 2018. The minutes were approved as read. He also read the minutes from the March board of director’s meeting held on March 1.

David Tarditi gave the treasurer’s report and posted it on the bulletin board. David reported that we are done t0 13 who have not paid dues for 2018.

President Schmidt appraised the members on upcoming events including the HMHS student walk as part of a national event (Mar 14), Bernie’s grandson playing lead in Aida at Lenape HS (Mar 10 & 11 at 7pm), FMSC (Apr 20-22), Mable Kay lunch on St. Patrick’s Day at 11:30 and a Haddon Twp. shuttle available on St. Patrick’s Day to move residents between watering holes in the township. He also mentioned a number of other local and Camden County events.

Jay Cokos reminded members of the speakers for the upcoming two weeks.

Saul Resnick reported that his article on Jim Dunn was in the Sun this week. He noted that the Sun has cut his future articles to a maximum of 600 words. Saul indicated that he has made additional contact for club membership as well as for weekly speakers. He also reported that he has made 20 copies of the Sun article on the club which can be used as handouts to prospective members.

Bill Brown indicated that he now has 44 people signed up and paid for the 9-11 Memorial trip and that we can take a maximum of 6 more.

New member Joe Hillegas introduced himself to the club and provided information on his background.

The regular business meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held January 11, 2017. President Leimkuhler called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM. There were 31 members present.

The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of God Bless America.

The secretary read the minutes from the last Business Meeting held on January11, 2018. The minutes were approved as read. He also read the minutes from the January board of director’s meeting held January 11.

David Tarditi gave the treasurer’s report and posted it on the bulletin board.

President Schmidt appraised the members on upcoming events including bingo at the Boathouse (Feb 20), Haddonfield Uncorked (Feb 24, Wheelchair dancing on Feb 18, and George Washington’s Chef “Hercules” at the Indian King Tavern on Feb 17.

Jay Cokos reported that he has speakers lined up through May except May 17^th.

Saul Resnick reported that his marketing article on the club was in this week’s Sun and will have an article on another member coming soon in the newsletter.

Bill Brown provided an update on trips. He has received suggestions for multiple trips including the 9-11 Memorial and the Middletown Train ride and boat cruise. Both trips will be in the $85 range.

Following the meeting, lunch was provided by Len Walden prior to departing for the Eclipse Brewery in Merchantville.

January, 2018

The regular business meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held January 11, 2017. President Leimkuhler called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM. There were 31 members present.

The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of God Bless America.

The secretary read the minutes from the last Business Meeting held on November 9, 2017. The minutes were approved with one modification; the brewery being visited in February is located in Merchantville, not Pennsauken. He also read the minutes from the January board of director’s meeting held January 11.

Don Beck submitted his report for correspondence for 2017. Eleven get well cards, four sympathy cards and sixteen Christmas cards were sent during the year. In addition, four memorial donations were made in honor of deceased members.

David Tarditi gave the treasurer’s report and posted it on the bulletin board.

Bill Brown reported that all is ready for our visit to the Evergreens next week. We will leave the clubhouse at 10:30am. He also reported that he is having problems with bus reservation for the brewery trip in February but is working on alternative plans. It is possible that we may have to carpool.

President Leimkuhler announced the slate of officers presented by the nominating committee and polled members for any nominations from the floor. With no additional nominations, a vote was taken by acclamation and the slate of officers for 2018 was approved and the oath was administered. The new officers are:

In addition, Bill Brown, Charles Legge and Howard Rementer will continue as directors for 2 years.  Ron Howley and Mike Underwood will continue as directors for 1 year. Henry Leimkuhler will continue on the board as past president.

As his final act, past president Leimkuhler performed his favorite duty by demonstrating the proper technique for putting money in the cash jar. He then turned the meeting over to 2018 president Al Schmidt.

Al solicited any other business from the floor and proceeded to adjourn the meeting.

The meeting was adjourned to refreshments at 2:05 PM.

November, 2017

The regular business meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held November 9, 2017. President Leimkuhler called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM. There were 20 members present.

The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of God Bless America.

The secretary read the minutes from the last Business Meeting held on September 14, 2017. The minutes were approved as read.

David Tarditi gave the treasurer’s report and posted it on the bulletin board.

Henry thanked Bill Brown for an excellent wine and cheese party. Members agreed that we should again send a $100 donation to Grace Episcopal Church for the use of the room for the event.

Walt Baker suggested that members ask their wives to notify a club member if they become hospitalized. Occasionally, a member is in and out of the hospital before anyone in the club is aware. In such cases we don’t get a card sent from the club.

Al Schmidt reminded the members that the Evergreens invited us to come for a tour and lunch. It was suggested that this could be a car-pool trip for some Tuesday. We just need to set up a date.

Bill Brown reported that he has 67 signed up for the museum tour. We could have an unexpected $300 charge for the school bus if they need to bring a bus in from another district due to playoff schedules at the high school. In addition, since the trip price was set, the Pub changed their menu and increased the cost for lunch. It is likely that we will lose money on this trip.

George Spellmeyer provided members with an overview of his plan for teaching chess to kids. The Haddonfield school system has postponed his work with the elementary school until the construction is all complete, which could extend into May of next year. Consequently, George made arrangements with Kids Alley, which is associated with the Lutheran church. They bus in kids from the inner-city for after school programs and were delighted to have a new idea for their classes. George is delighted to have some volunteer help from the 65 Club. Volunteers do not need to be proficient in chess, only need to have an elementary knowledge of the game. It requires showing up at the proper location at 3:30pm. The exact location is still to be determined. Classes will start on Friday January 5^th.

Following the conclusion of business, Bill Brown auctioned off the leftover wine and cheese from the party. He raised approximately $60 to offset some of the party cost.

The regular business meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held September 14, 2017. President Leimkuhler called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM. There were 23 members present.

The meeting began with a presentation by David hunter on his new Haddonfield Calendar which was both interesting and informative. It was followed by the Pledge to the flag and the singing of God Bless America.

The secretary read the minutes from the last Business Meeting held on August 10, 2017. The minutes were approved as read.

David Tarditi gave the treasurer’s report and posted it on the bulletin board.

Henry reported that Buz Murphy had knee surgery and is doing well and that Charles Legge is getting better. Henry also noted the nice article on Butch Brees in the Haddonfield Sun and also that Butch is running the Fire Company golf outing on October 18^th.

President Leimkuhler announced the Fall Festival will be held on October 14^th. Al Schmidt volunteered to honcho the club participation in the festival.

Henry also announced that next week will be an outside cleanup day at the club.

The bridge and pinochle tournament seasons began this week and the bowling season will start this Friday.

The regular business meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held August 10, 2017. Vice President Schmidt called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM. There were 17 members present.

The meeting began with the Pledge to the flag, followed by the singing of God Bless America.

The Vice President read the minutes from the last Business Meeting held on July 13, 2017. The minutes were approved.

David Tarditi gave the treasurer’s report and posted it on the bulletin board.

Al announced a variety of information available at the county store in Voorhees..

Bill Brown reminded members of the casino trip on August 29^th and told the members that there are still slots available, but going fast. The cost of the trip is $44. 33 have paid so far.  Bill also announced that the casino trip in November is not a Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers performance, but a tribute to them.

Bill told us that Walt Baker is featured in an article in the Haddonfield Sun and will soon be featured in our club newsletter.

Bill also gave a special thanks to those who supported the Haddonfield Japan Exchange with special mention to Bob Parsons and Lou Dunkle.

Bill reminded members that the flea market will be September 16^th with a rain date of Sep 23^rd.

Tom reported that the Indian King Tavern is hosting 2 beer events in September, A beer tasting on the 16^th that includes dinner and entertainment. This is their major fundraiser for the tavern. The second event is a beer brewing on the 30^th. Flyers were made available.

Frank told us about the Sons of Italy Lotto December and offered tickets for sale.

A suggestion was brought up to provide a larger bulletin board for posting our announcements. We will have to look into available wall space.
