 The regular business meeting was held on Thursday July 8, 2021. The meeting was held in the 65 Club clubhouse.

 President Frank Lodge called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM.  There were approximately twenty (20) members attending.

Dave Tarditi led The Pledge of Allegiance and then the invocation.

Minutes – Fred Willis

·       The minutes of the last Business Meeting, held on June 10, 2021 and conducted on Zoom, were read.  They were approved without changes.

·       The minutes of the last Board of Directors Meeting, held on July 1, 2021 and conducted in the clubhouse, were read. 

President’s Report – Frank Lodge

·       Frank informed the members the club won 2^nd place in the Haddonfield Fourth of July parade.

·       Frank requested ideas for next year’s parade.

Treasurer’s Report – Hank Zaleski

·       Hank reported the treasurer transition from Dave Tarditi to himself was completed.

·       The club’s income and expenditures for June were about $200 each. The club is on budget.

·       Bill Brown will meet with Carleton Chin next week to accept Carleton’s $ 150 gift to the club.  This gift financed the June 24 cookout.

Event Committee Reports

Membership – Dave Tarditi – 2^nd VP

·       An electronic application for membership was received.  It will be reviewed.  

·       A plan to ‘adopt a neighbor’ to introduce them to the club will be presented soon

Trips - Bill Brown

·       The Car pool trip to Simeone Auto Museum will occur on July 13. Attendee’s will be accepted up to this weekend.

·       Bill thanked Frank for his work and guidance on the parade.

·       Bill informed us about a 5K run that was being planned by another organization.

·        

Chess – Fred Willis

·       Chess will start on Thursday September 9 after the Business meeting.

·       Chess set donations are welcomed.

·       Frank informed us the ice cream was melting.

Joke Master

Neil bravely stepped forward and provided to a very brief (thankfully) joke which saved us from questions.

 The regular business meeting was held on Thursday June 10, 2021. The 65 Club clubhouse was open but the meeting was conducted remotely using the Zoom program due to air conditioning problems. President Frank Lodge called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM.  There were eleven (11) members attending.

·       The minutes of the last Board of Directors Meeting, held on June 3, 2021 and conducted on Zoom, were read. 

President’s Report – Frank Lodge

·       Frank announced Event Committee Reports would be presented at the Business meeting. They will be discontinued or made extremely short at the weekly club meeting.

·       A member asked if wives would be invited to the scheduled reopening cookout. There was some discussion about logistics of inviting the wives.  It was decided and approved the cookout would be only for members.

·       Henry Saleski was sworn in as club treasurer by Frank.  He will replace Dave Tarditi and begin his term on July 1.

·       Frank informed the members that sign preparation for the Fourth of July parade required.  This will occur after the normal club meeting on July 1.  It is expected to take about a half an hour.

·       The reopening cookout will occur on June 24.

·       VFW Dinner – See New Business.

Treasurer’s Report – Dave Tarditi

·       Several large expenditures occurred last month which included the HMHS Scholarship payment ($1000), Storm door replacement ($500) and Federal Filing Non-Profit exemption fee ($600). Income from the Spring Luncheon ($84) and the Green jar ($255) contribution partially offset the expenditures.

·       The treasurer’s report was approved.

·       The last clubhouse meeting was held March 12, 2020

·       Don Beck is still in quarantine.

·       Charles Legge and Jack Marchesani can have visitors

·       Dan Columbi is alright.

·       The following presentations are scheduled.

o   June 17 - William Powell will present an Italian Holiday

o   June 24 – Jennifer Rosenblatt will discuss the organization Eversight Vision.

·       Several applications for membership were received.  They will be reviewed and acted on at the July Directors meeting.

Trips - Bill Brown

·       July 13 – a car pool trip to the Simeone Auto Museum is being planned.

Bowling - Walt Baker

·       Bowling continues on Friday and will continue through the summer.  Attendance is usually five members.

Pinochle - Tom Mervine

·        Pinochle will resume at the clubhouse on Wednesday June 16 at 12:00 PM

Bridge –

·       Bridge will resume at the clubhouse on Monday June 14 at 12: 45 PM

Tai Chi -

·       Tai Chi will start on July 12

Chess – Fred Willis

·       Chess will start on Thursday September 9 after the Business meeting.

·       Chess set donations are welcomed.

Old Business

·       None.

New Business

·       Bill contacted the Borough about the clubhouse air conditioning problem. The Borough Public Works will check the unit.

·       Bill is still looking for a 55 Chevy to `march’ in the Fourth of July parade.

·       Dave described the VFW Post 38 Last Man Standing dinner on July 29.  This dinner honors veterans from various wars.

·       Roger informed members 65 Club brochures were available if anyone needed them or knew of a place they could be displayed.

·       Roger informed members an addendum to the recently issued 2021 Club Directory was required because four guest members names had been omitted.

·       June 17 – a work party is required to clean of plant growth behind the club house. This will be held after the normal meeting and members should bring their own tools.

 

 

Joke Master

·       No one volunteered.

·       Frank asked two questions and selected the members to answer them. Since the  questions and answers would not light a candle and Frank threatened to repeat the process until a Joke Master emerged, we can expect a long line of Joke Master’s at all future meetings. 

·       Roger suddenly remembered a joke and presented it masterfully. Whether the joke was of the same caliber as its presentation is a different question.

President Frank Lodge called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM.  There were eighteen (18) members on laptops or phones attending.

President’s Report – Frank Lodge

·       Frank announced 2^nd vice president Rich Bonnette had resigned.

o   A committee of Bill Brown, Al Schmidt and Roger Jacobs was formed to find a replacement. The committee will meet tomorrow to discuss candidates.

·       There are two zoom meetings for Haddonfield Commissioner Candidates Question and Answer sessions. On April 12 the Haddonfield Civic Association will hold one. On April 22 the Haddonfield Republican club will hold one.  Registration for the HRC is required and can be obtained at haddonfieldgop@gmail.com.

·       Dave said the Green Contribution jar was empty and lonely and it would be nice if members contributed to it again.

·       Bill obtained a list of Haddonfield veterans and will send letters to them who are eligible to be 65 Club members

·        The spring luncheon is the next planned event. 

o   Seventy-four (74) attendees have registered for the luncheon and sixty-three (63) have paid.

·       Golf resumed last week with a large (36) turnout.

o   Golfing awards will be presented at the Spring Luncheon

·       Bowling continues on Friday and will continue through the summer.  Attendance is usually five members.

o   Bowling awards will be presented at the Spring Luncheon

·       Bridge continues on line on Monday and Thursday nights.

·       Chess will start later.

·       Bill has again contacted the Borough commissioners about re-opening the clubhouse for Thai Chi and Chess.  So far, he has been told they would review the request.

·       There was a discussion about arranging a trip by train to an Atlantic City casino.  This is feasible if the jitneys are operating.

·       An invitation to visit the organ at the Atlantic City Convention hall in late spring has been received.  The organ is being restored and was the subject of a presentation last year. If this occurs it will probably be a train trip.

Joke Master

·       Dennis Kille bravely stepped forward to tell a joke claiming he was scraping the bottom of the barrel. The bottom was too high of an evaluation of the joke.

 The regular business meeting was held on Thursday March 11, 2020. The 65 Club clubhouse was closed due to the COVID 19 shutdown therefore the meeting was conducted remotely using the Zoom program. Vice President Roger Jacobs called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM.  There were in excess of ten (10) members on Zoom.

President’s Report – Frank Lodge

·       Frank apologized for being late due to pulling up the wrong Zoom link.

·       Frank requested guest Narendra Chawla to introduce himself.

o   Narenda inform us he was originally from India and had emigrated to the US to attend graduate school in chemical engineering. He worked for chemical companies and then for banks before retiring. He has one son, three grandchildren and is a bridge player and golfer.

Treasurer’s Report – Dave Tarditi

·       The clubs cash increased by $100 in February

·       There were twenty-one (21) unpaid members and eight (8) unpaid guest members.

·       Doug Rauschenberger and Dave are tracking down the unpaid members.

·       Members who have not paid by March 31 will be deleted from the 2021 club directory

·       Allan Richie was in the hospital with COVID, he is at home recovering.

·       Dan Columbi is preparing to resume chemo.

·        Frank informed the members of the following upcoming activities.

o   February 14 – HOST Renewable Wedding Vows will be held at Kings Court.

o   The movie `Death Saved My Life’ was recently filmed in Haddonfield and will be shown on Lifetime Channel.

o   A 1938 65 Club Christmas party phot was shown.  Only men were attendees.

Treasurer’s Report – Dave Tarditi

·        The clubs bank account decreased from about $20,000 to $18,000 during January. The major expenses were $1,250 to replace storm doors, $960 to replace clubhouse light fixtures and a $500 deposit for the spring luncheon.

·        Get well cards were sent to several members.

·        Dan Columbi was seen smiling at Tish’s birthday party.

·        A $50 memorial donation was sent in Earl Slimm’s name to the Parkinson Foundation.

·        There was an extensive discussion on the experience’s members are having in getting the Covid vaccine. In general, receiving the vaccine is very random and chaotic.

Speakers – Roger Jacobs – 1^st VP

·        Rich Cunliffe will speak on his experiences in Australia and the outback on February 18.

·        Richard Carney will speak February 25 on boating at the Jersey shore and in Prince William Sound in Alaska

·        Roger sent thank you notes to the club’s last two speakers.  Both speakers mentioned the tremendous support Al Schmidt supplied for their zoom presentations.

·        Rich has written a report for the Directors for a membership campaign.  This will be presented at the next Board of Directors meeting.

·        Phil Kinsey and Al Schmidt complied an etiquette list to improve using Zoom.  The most important issues are lighting and using mute.  The etiquette list was sent to the membership.

·        Rich Carney informed the club of 126 Youtube video’s on Tony Fleming sailing adventures.  These are small travelogues on locations around the world

·        Bill Brown stepped in to replace Neil Wise and did a credible job. He is now on the hook for when Neil is unavailable.

·        Bill presented the officers and Board of Directors for 2021.  After reading the duties of each position he asked the them to confirm they will execute the duties.  After this, the club members verbally approved their election.

President’s Report – Frank Lodge

·        Frank explained how he hoped to improve the club during his term of office.

·        Frank discussed his 65 Invites Program proposal to replace trips until the COVID situation is ended.  This program will be held monthly on the afternoon of the Business meeting day.  It will be advertised within Haddonfield and Haddon Heights.  Two programs are currently under discussion.  One would be a zoom chocolate description and tasting session with a confectioner in town.  The other would be a zoom cooking class.  Discussions are being held with each.

·        Frank’s second proposal is ensuring club members are aware of up coming activities in the area.  Some of the activities occurring are the following.  Local publications should be checked for details.

o   Bone Wars – January 20 – Haddonfield Historical Society

o   Ice Carving – January 23

·        Frank also plans to restore This day in History with an emphasis on club history.

Reports

Welfare –Henry Leimkuhler

·        Mark Hess is still quarranteined in his room.

·        Henry received a letter from Dan Columbi thanking the club for staying in touch.  Dan is facing more throat cancer surgery and kidney dialysis is still occurring four times weekly.

·        Henry received a thank you letter from club member George Tice who lives in Rochester NY. George moved to Rochester in 1989 but has remained a member and in touch with the club.  He is now over 102.

Speakers – Roger Jacobs – 1^st VP

·        Rich Cunliffe will make his second presentation on Artificial Intelligence (AI) on January 21.

·        A presentation on the Lenape Indian Nation will occur on January 28

·        February speakers are under discussion.

Membership – Rich Bonnette

·        Rich reported he is still getting familiar with the position and will have more information next month.

·        Roger reported Jack Donovan will be approved as a member at the February BOD meeting.

·        Roger also reported contact with the churches will be kept up.

·        Neil Wise stepped in and did another very credible presentation as a joke master. Neil is not learning no good deed goes unpunished so he will be expected to do it again in the future.
